4 Cats Story

My name is Jessica Mulherin and I am a transplant to New Orleans from Philadelphia, PA. I moved to the Crescent City over 10 years ago to be a part of the vibrant and amazing culinary scene as well as immerse myself into the beautiful culture. I have worked in all positions and aspects of restaurants, bars, hotels and venues.

I started 4 Cats Catering in 2019 as a small event catering company to showcase local ingredients in fun, exciting new ways as well as share a variety of different types of cuisine from my experience and background. 4 Cats has cooked for several non-profit events such as Ronald McDonald holiday spreads and local animal rescue fundraisers in addition to small events that local residents were holding. It has been a passion project from the beginning and a labor of love in addition to my full time job.

 

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, I lost my service industry jobs as did most of Americans. Trying to figure out what to do next in a new and uncertain world, I started making handmade Polish Pierogis (Dumplings Stuffed with a variety of fillings) and homemade Smoked Kielbasa for a no contact delivery to the New Orleans area. As many people were no longer having parties or gatherings and many were not even leaving their homes, this gave them an opportunity for a different, easy and economical comfort meal delivered right to their door.

From there, the business has grown with more wholesale of a wide variety of Pierogi flavors, Kielbasa and Hot Plate delivery, Holiday Catering, Parties and Special Events as the pandemic continued. We have always tried to use Local ingredients whenever possible to keep our Farmers, Fisherman and Purveyors also in business as we all navigate this difficult and confusing new world!

During Hurricane Ida, we decided to use our equipment to cook all of the inventory we had, as well as all donation foods, for the communities of Bayou St. John and Mid-City. It was amazing to see the community come together at such a difficult time to take care of each other. We felt so grateful to be able to be a part of this experience and serve those who needed it. We hope to always be there to serve the community whenever possible.

We love doing Pop Up Shops at various Bars, Breweries and Venues within the New Orleans Area, Catering Holidays & Events as well as wholesale as the world continues to return to a safer place for all! We also love cooking for smaller events such as Dinner Parties and Date nights!
